A "sub" that pays for content is not a "sub." That's called a customer.

yes, subs can be both but there are ones who exclusively buy content that do not have a sub bone in their body.

While clearly it's possible to be both a "sub" and a "customer", these are two quite different roles. There is no submission involved in buying content.
