I will start this by saying that of course we all have different situations, experiences and relationships which vary our outcomes greatly. However, with that thought in mind, and with the obvious acknowledgment that nobody uses a specific time period, how soon are you *usually* comfortable with claiming ownership? I'm probably closer to a year minimum, but that has not always been the case, so I'll undershoot for an accurate range. Velcro collaring (or immediate owning just to 'take someone off the market' ) is a rookie move and doesn't usually develop into much.
