"What's this?" Ms. Morrigan asked, as her gentleman caller reached into the inside breast pocket of his sportscoat and withdrew a slender package.
"It's a gift for you," he said, with his own excitement and pride evident in his voice.
Morrigan reached out with one small manicured hand and received the package from him, saying "Thank you!" and gesturing for him to take a seat beside her on the small sofa.
"What's the occasion?" she asked.
"You know I never need an occasion," he replied.
"That's certainly true," she acknowledged, untying the ribbon from around the little box and lifting the lid. Then, "My goodness. Two tickets to the Paul McCartney concert? That's very extravagant!"
He beamed. "Notice the date."
"My birthday!" she smiled. "That's weeks from now. But, how wonderful."
"I know Sir Paul is no Trent Reznor, but..." he joked.
"Don't be silly," Ms. Morrigan laughed. "It's definitely a bucket-list event. Thank you."
"There's more," he said.
She lifted the tissue paper from around the tickets and looked underneath. "Oh, my. A gift certificate to my favorite restaurant! You really are the best."
He basked in the compliment. She reached out and stroked his cheek softly with the backs of her fingers.
"So," she asked, "Would you like to enjoy this special evening with me?"
His heart swelled. "Oh, definitely."
"Hmmm," she responded. "Just checking." A pause. "Silly boy."
She turned the documents over in her hand, considering them. "Dinner and a concert. You know, of course, that that means hours in your chastity cage."
He grinned and blushed. "Well, if that's what you wish ..."
"Of course it is." She looked into his grateful eyes and smiled. "I wonder who I should take as my date?"
His eyes suddenly got wider and his smile faded.
"Oh, admit it," she chided him. "Really, now. What would be more exciting for you ... seeing Paul McCartney, or sitting at home, all locked up, wondering who I'm with?"
He sighed heavily, even as he became aware of his rapidly-rising erection. She was right, of course. She knew him so well.
