Do you know what some of the more import abbreviations in BDSM mean?
BDSM is Bondage Dominance Sadism Masochism.
Bondage- sexual practice that involves the tying up or restraining of one partner. the state of being a slave.
Dominance- power and influence over others.
Sadism- the tendency to derive pleasure, especially sexual gratification, from inflicting pain, suffering, or humiliation on others.
Masochism- the tendency to derive pleasure, especially sexual gratification, from one's own pain or humiliation.
An unequal power relationship where sexual preferences and behaviors can involve physical restraints or pain, including the practice of bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadomasochism, etc.
SSC is Safe, Sane, and Consensual.
Safe- protected from or not exposed to danger or risk; not likely to be harmed or lost.
Sane- of sound mind; not mad or mentally ill. reasonable; sensible.
Consensual- relating to or involving consent or consensus.
The focus is on sanity for the safety and consent of the submissive. The dominant has limits, that he/she abides to the consent of the partner, and should not do anything that can risk the safety of the partner.
RACK is Risk-Aware Consensual Kink.
Risk- a situation involving exposure to danger.
Aware- having knowledge or perception of a situation or fact. concerned and well-informed about a particular situation or development.
Consensual- relating to or involving consent or consensus.
Kink- unconventional sexual taste or behavior
The focus is on Risk-Awareness and not as safe. Certain risky sexual behaviors are permissible as long as both parties are aware of the risks. Sane is still a factor in the dynamic. The submissive has more power in choosing riskier activities that fulfill their needs.
PRICK is Personal Responsibility, Informed, Consensual Kink.
Personal- of, affecting, or belonging to a particular person rather than to anyone else.
Responsibility- the opportunity or ability to act independently and make decisions without authorization.
Informed- having or showing knowledge of a particular subject or situation.
Consensual- relating to or involving consent or consensus.
Kink- unconventional sexual taste or behavior
This is similar to RACK, there is more risk allowed and both partners are responsible for their own actions.
CCC is Committed Compassionate Consensual
Committed- feeling dedication and loyalty to a cause, activity, or job; wholeheartedly dedicated.
Compassionate- feeling or showing sympathy and concern for others.
Consensual- relating to or involving consent or consensus.
Maximum power exchange, such as 24/7 relationships. A submissive's activities are defined. Only hard limits are disclosed. This dynamic has the highest risk factors. This is the dream for many submissives, but the reality is less enjoyed.
