EDIT (12/04/2018): Thank you very much to Miss_Alley for posting this link where you can backup your tumblr for those who have put so much work into their business with tumblr! http://web.archive.org/
Also, the Nerdist posted a REALLY great article about the amazing fallout of Tumblr's decision, but I've screencapped a few of the highlights (sorry for the crappy phone screenies xD).
It doesn't take a business guru like Myself to have predicted the impact this would have on their stocks (Verizon Acquired Tumblr in 2013), but it IS really funny that they're now flagging posts about this very fact as 'sensitive.' Just because you made a mistake and are having regrets about it doesn't mean your bitch ass gets to be sensitive about the fallout xD
But on a much more serious note, whatever algorithm Tumblr has created is having some serious troubles. I am friends with many artists and can confirm that TONS of their art has been flagged. Many of My artist friends draw pictures of animals or anime fanart - all completely 100% wholesome stuff. But not in the eyes of Tumblr apparently! But what's worse is the racist slant that the algorithm seems to be taking on its flagging...
And, of course, in true fuckup fashion, the very post Tumblr itself made about the new rules has been flagged...

ORIGINAL POST (12/03/2018):
To be honest, I gave up on tumblr last year when they stopped allowing Me to search NSFW keywords and tags, but this is a step further than that. I've heard that they're also already nuking a bunch of random blogs, some of which are related to tangentially NSFW topics or have reblogged vaguely NSFW stuff or are just followed by too many porn bots. They're being pretty heavy handed with it, but I'm not going to take down My blog. If they want to remove it, they can put the work in. I'm just not going to update anymore.
Mostly posting this as an announcement (I know a lot fo Femdoms & Findoms still have a tumblr that they keep up on pretty frequently, and to you I am sorry for what this may do to your business), but also I'd like to open up a discussion. Can censorship REALLY stop NSFW content? It seems like everything they've tried to do to get rid of porn bots has just resulted in more spam, which I find hilarious personally. And don't get Me wrong - every website owner is allowed to implement their own rules and whatever they say goes. I don't like some of the rules on this website, but that's not my call. I'm sure many of those who post on My website, Rate My Tiny Penis, don't like the rules either. Tough luck. Use it or move on, right?
But with a platform like Tumblr, with literally 22% of people being on there for NSFW purposes (according to this study; https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/4xa8v3/so-how-much-porn-is-on-tumblr), are the rules going to be enough to stop it? About 16% of ALL TRAFFIC going to Tumblr comes from NSFW and porn websites or blogs. So right off the bat, Tumblr is saying that they will be fine with 1/5 less users than they have and about 1/6 less traffic. The article claims that much of those numbers are from people who were 'unintentionally exposed,' but the only reason they claim that is that those users hadn't followed any porn blogs themselves and had never reblogged any NSFW content on their own pages. How many people have a vanilla tumblr and look at porn on it though? I know I did for years!
So I guess the question is, is tumblr going to lose a TON of traffic, content, and customers or are the porn bots just going to be more tenacious than ever out of spite? Personally, I'm just going to sit back, eat some popcorn, and watch the stocks drop.
