Hi ladies and germs (an old joke),
I used Venmo years ago and must have left $7.00 so I got an escheat notice from them. I tried to sign on and got the irritating message "you have signed on from a different device" so I had to send my email for a code. The code is text and my phone number is land line so I cannot get the code. So I emailed their support and got the following:
"Send us a picture of a government issued photo ID and we will unfreeze your account."
I am not about to send any web company a picture of my photo id. I would trust Venmo but security in the online world is a joke.
Searching online, I see Venmo had done this to others, including one person who tried to pay her rent through Venmo and both her and landlord's accounts were frozen.
We all know what PayPal is like and Venmo was bought out by PayPal. So my post is for 2 reasone:
1) Has anyone had problems with Venmo?
2) To warn people about what I experienced and that it is now owned by PayPal so they can decide if Venmo is for them.
Any feedback?
